Values

Some of my values as a human…

  • Personally these two go hand in hand. I aim to embody my most authentic self as a leader and encourage you to be yours. I want you to feel comfortable and welcome to be your true self with me and inspired to become even more yourself through the work we do together. I also aim to be as ethical and empathetic as possible in my life and hope it translates through the work I do.

  • We live in such an individualized society that I can see the way in which is isolates and contributes to peoples unhappiness and lack of connection to ones selves. I don’t believe were meant to be such isolated creatures and find so much fulfillment in connecting with others in intentional and meaningful ways. I try to facilitate meaningful connection and community through a lot of the work I do in workshops, events, & retreats.

  • Our world has become so divisive and closed minded. We’re so quick to judge and marginalize groups of people we dont understand immediately when all it takes is a little empathy and critical thought. I refuse to approach life in such a way, I aspire to be welcoming and loving to all groups of people, especially those marginalized by our world and do my best to support however I can. Especially being a queer neurodivergent stripper myself. (One way I currently offer this in a monetary way is through offering discounts to marginalized folks- you can inform me of your interest through my intake form.)

  • I think one of the most important skills one can possess in this world is critical thinking. Were constantly being sold to, influenced, and preached at from so many different directions. We’re taught incredibly harmful things about ourselves, others, and the world from such young ages and often times aren’t aware that those thoughts aren’t even ours. They’ve just been passed down and placed onto us. This is something I try to encourage in my events as I believe a lot of these harmful ideas are what hold us back from being our most powerful selves. And of course I encourage you to critically think and decide for yourself if you resonate with what I teach.

  • Ive been an artist my whole life, so I have deep respect and reverence for artists. I also know what it feels like to have my art be disrespected, copied, or stolen. So in my pursuit of continuing to create art I choose to prioritize originality in everything that I create. I want to create new experiences and classet hat I with existed when I was looking for them.

Some of my values as a leader…

  • Which looks like meeting you where you are at at any given day and helping you learn to listen to your body and its subtle cues. I have a deep respect for the human body and understand that we (especially women & bodies that bleed) live cyclically and have different capacities for movement & vulnerability daily.

  • After years of exploration as a teacher, I have what used to feel like two conflicting sides of myself; one that is deeply connected to body awareness and technique and another that craves facilitating exploration of self separate from technique. I’ve learned that this is actually a gift that depending on the needs of my students I get to curate an intentional experience catered to them. So depending on what is your desired focus, I am happy to customize your experience based on that.

  • in technique oriented environments; through the intersection of technique and mind-body connection that often gets overlooked in most studio settings. Proprioception is the ability to sense the orientation of your body in your environment. It allows you to move without having to consciously think about where you are in your environment. My goal is for my students to holistically understand what they’re doing to integrate technique even deeper.

  • Whether this is in a technique based class or a more exploratory experience, I prioritize space for you to cultivate a deeper sense of you. I teach technical classes in a sequence format that encourages style and self exploration so you have space to move in an authentic way. The dance world doesn’t need more choreo classes and you don’t need yet another person telling you what to do. I’m not out to teach my students how to dance like me, I aim to offer you tools and technique to help you deepen your relationship with dance and in turn learn who you are individually as a dancer. In non technique oriented spaces self exploration is a big theme of my work,

  • where everyone feels welcome, safe to ask questions, and be themselves wherever they are at any given day. I believe all bodies are capable and worthy and that there is not a one size fits all approach to dance or movement. Pole does not have to be gendered, weight focused, age centered, and so on and so forth. You are enough as your are and I welcome all forms of expression.
